Icelandic art at auction
Uppboðshúsið is an Icelandic online auction house for art, with a focus on Icelandic artists. The auctions are held on our website, live.
An auction house for Icelandic art
We hold online art auctions. Anyone can look at the works, and bids are placed live on the website while an auction is open. The works are paintings, drawings and prints.
The website is in Icelandic. These English pages explain the basics and point you to the right pages.
Open now
Nóvemberuppboð. 33 lots, the last one closes on 1 November 2026.
How an auction works
Sign in
Sign in with Kenni, the Icelandic electronic ID service. There is no separate registration.
Look at the works
Every work has its own page with photographs and a description.
Bid live
Place bids while the auction is open. A bid in the last minute extends the closing time.
If you win
The highest bidder is sent a bank claim in their online bank within a few days. Bids are binding.
Icelandic artists
Each artist has a page with their works on the site. The artist pages are in Icelandic.
Visiting from outside Iceland
You can read about the house and browse the works and artists without signing in.
To bid you sign in with Kenni, an Icelandic electronic ID service. We have not set up bidding or payment for buyers outside Iceland, and we do not promise either. If you live abroad and have your eye on a work, write to us before you plan anything around it.
Selling a work
The seller’s commission is 12% of the hammer price plus VAT, and nothing is charged if the work does not sell. Submitting a work needs a Kenni sign-in too.
